Art
The benefits of arts for children at a young age allows them to: engage in the nursery with each other and reduce stress, help develop social-emotional interpersonal skills, enriching their experiences.

This is done by; colour painting, mark making, play-doh, collage making and many more.
Music
Here at Nicki Day Nursery we allow the children to express themselves through dance and music, it is part of our curriculum. The children have dance class twice a week which includes the children creating their own choreography, this allows them to release all their energy and improve the fitness due to the rapid movement.

Music can stimulate the formation of brain chemicals boosting concentration skills and productivity thus improving learning and grades.

Movement
Regular, active movement has a host of physical benefits for children, including:
-
Higher cardiorespiratory fitness
-
Stronger muscles and bones

We have three outdoor sections in the nursery which all the children to run around and lay with different objects such as cars, scooters, climbing frames, and our own built in soft play area. Additionally, we often take the children to the park to allow them to run freely in different environments.
Language
At Nicki Day Nursery children who attends and English is not their first, are encouraged to use their native language. We have staff member who speak a variety of different languages such as French, Spanish, Portuguese and many more.

Two years and upwards, the children are introduced to language classes, to allow everyone to interact and understand each other, simple sentence or phrases like, please, thank you, how are you and can I have more please.

Learning different languages will maintain relationships within the classrooms, and reduce stress. But most importantly, build foundations for literacy, making sense of visual and verbal signs, and ultimately for reading and writing.
Mathematics
Mathematics is used everyday, it plays a role in a child's development, infants and toddlers build early foundations for maths during play. Your child will be taught additions, subtraction through the uses of song, setting the table and simple counting while climbing the stairs. we believe creating songs around learning, children are more responsive as most often they do not notice they are learning at the same time.

They'll start to see maths in tangible objects in the world all around them, and they can explore these concepts themselves every day. we support this by encouraging the children to recognise the number of their home, the different number buses that goes by the nursery. Using games or activities that involve maths can become valuable teaching techniques for parents and EYFS practitioners.
